Royal British Legion visit P5McM
Pupils from P5McM received a visit from Matt and Joan from the Carrickfergus branch of the Royal British Legion. They told the class about how messages that they had written in P4 had been placed on a wreath and laid during a ceremony in Ypres (at the Menin Gate). The ceremony was conducted by the Archbishop of York and 1,100 wreaths were laid. Our wreath has been given a special place close to the memorial that was erected to commemorate the ceremony, as it was one of very few wreaths that had a special message placed on it.
Matt and Joan kindly donated their special bear called Poppy to the school (which they received for taking part in the ceremony) to thank the pupils for writing the messages.
