We went along the edge of the school premises, in amongst the trees that surround Oakfield in search of sticks and twigs for a little impromptu Christmas craft activity today. We made sure to wrap up. For this activity we had to think of size and thickness of the sticks to then drying them before use. Once inside, proud of our findings, we dried our twigs and sticks then washed our hands and began planning out a Christmas tree made out of a tree!
After a lot of critical thinking, planning, sorting, resorting and discussion, we all made great efforts to create an outside-in activity. We did find it a challenge using the natural materials as the pva glue didn’t always join the twigs. Some of us got a bit fed up. Lucas reminded us to use our Growth Mindset and Ryan suggested we try a little more patience!
All in all, we enjoyed using the natural materials on our doorstep to create a little bit of Christmas magic (along with a little help from the teachers and the glue gun!)
